Hip locking in a 6 year old?

My child had an issue with her hip yesterday. She went to stand up and her hip locked. She couldn’t move for over 10 minutes, nor could she put her foot on the floor.
I’m concerned with this, it hasn’t happened before and eventually she was ok. Why did it lock? Is it a form of a slight dislocation?
When she was born, we were told her hips were slightly forwards meaning the bottoms of her feet could touch even when her legs were straight but said it should fix itself.
She does dance, gymnastics, karate, swimming. She is very fit, strong and flexible, she does the splits every day.

What can I do to help? Did this dislocate? Is it a one off?

First of all, we are not doctors. And second, you were told your daughter was born with her hips slightly forward, which is most likely a permanent thing. So in other words, her hips are prone to locking up and possibly getting dislocated from time to time as she gets older.

How would we know why? Have you heard of a Doctor? I would suggest you take here to one and get the answers you want to know. The last place I would go for information like this is asking strangers on YA to something they have no idea about.

Only a doctor can adequately diagnose and treat your daughter's symptoms. You should make an appointment for your daughter to see her pediatrician as soon as possible. In the meantime, you might want to discourage her from doing "the splits" until she's seen by a doctor.

take her to a professional sports medicine therapist, who may properly diagnose the issue and a remedy....
