Jesus died for “the forgiveness of our sins.”—Colossians 1:14.
The first human, Adam, was created perfect, without sin. However, he chose to disobey God. Adam’s disobedience, or sin, profoundly affected all his descendants. “Through the disobedience of the one man,” the Bible explains, “many were made sinners.”—Romans 5:19.
Jesus was also perfect, but he never sinned. Therefore, he could be “an atoning sacrifice for our sins.” (1 John 2:2; footnote) Just as Adam’s disobedience contaminated the human family with sin, so Jesus’ death removed the stain of sin from all who exercise faith in him.
In a sense, Adam sold the human race into sin. Jesus, by willingly dying in our behalf, repurchased humankind as his own. As a result, “if anyone does commit a sin, we have a helper with the Father, Jesus Christ, a righteous one.”—1 John 2:1.

It is a summation of God's plan for mankind, and describes His plan for salvation through His only begotten Son, Jesus.

Religious stories, not reality.

My opinion of the claim is " it makes little sense". First a non social deity decides to become social. Then he makes people and angels that are less than perfect. Then he gives them choices to do what he doesn't want them to do. Makes rules to follow and a punishment/reward system to influence behavior. At times he becomes upset over choices they make. Thus causing himself anguish enough to destroy most of his worldly life creation. As such infants, the unborn, toddlers, small children and over 99% of the animal kingdom are made to pay, just to show his divine grace and authority. This error was also made when angels rebelled in heaven. Yet he persisted in the so called act of "freewill". Mind you all of this from a god that has no limitations and can do anything. The same god sends his son who is said to be a part of himself (in another form) to earth to instruct people thousands of years after (replace with the number that suits you) having made them populous again to catch up to speed with his intentions. He thus allows men once again a choice (called freewill) to follow what he wants them to do. It's like humans making robots to preform task yet allowing them the choice to not do the task as wanted. All along expecting they will preform out of obedience to your request. It seems the programmer allowed for the program to go hay wire, then becomes angry over the fact it doesn't preform right. That's insane.

Utter nonsense and appallingly poor fiction about sums it up.

“The Bible is full of interest. It has noble poetry in it; and some clever fables; and some blood-drenched history; and some good morals; and a wealth of obscenity; and upwards of a thousand lies.” ---- Mark Twain

A much better explanation is...

...Paul needed a way to convert the large number of gentiles and pagans throughout the Roman empire and invented a concept called Original Sin in his letters to the Romans - something that Jesus never even talked about which is quite odd if he were truly here to save everyone from it.

You want my opinion on truth? What do you mean? Do I agree with truth? Well...yeah...sure.

How can someone who never sinned, take our sins upon himself? Jesus did not die for the forgiveness of our sins. Judas died for the forgiveness of our sins. Jesus died for our salvation unto God.

I’m in agreement that Jesus died for our sins.

1 John 2:1-2: 2 My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous; and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world.

1 Peter 2:24: and He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed.

And I enjoy using the book of Romans to share God’s plan of salvation for us.

Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 10:8-10: that is, the word of faith which we are preaching, that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.

Romans 8:1: Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

Then the remainder of Romans 8 shares the results of salvation.

Poor translation. Jesus died to give us the chance *to repent of our sins* -- not everybody does -- so we can go to heaven.
