Hw help: A 4 ohm, 5 ohm and 14 ohm resistor are wired in series with a 9 V battery. What is the current going through the circuit?

I = V/(r1+r2+r3) = 9/(4+5+14) = 9/23 = 0.391 A

Resistors in series simply add.
4 + 5 + 14 = 23 ohms.

Ohms law say that I = E/R, so

I = 9/23 = 0.391 amps or 391 mA.
