Can Facebook be sued over not verifying fake users?
My grandmother was recently scammed out of $40k through a "government attorney". His name is Jenkins Van Lee on Facebook, and isn't it Facebook's job to verify that this man isn't an actual government official? I know they cannot go through all these profiles, but shouldn't they be liable,

They wouldn't be sued successfully.
They have policies in place about people not using "fake" profiles, but it's not their "job" to protect you from them. Fake profiles by themselves are not illegal. Lots of websites don't require accuracy in profiles, nor do they check them. It's up to Facebook if they want to prohibit them, and how aggressively they enforce their policies.
You can report fake profiles to Facebook for removal. But if some fake profile scams you, it's your problem to report them to the police and/or sue them. You're not going to get any official communication from people like "government officials" on Facebook. You similarly wouldn't get to sue your email service provider because some scammer rips you off by email.
If you don't like Facebook and how they enforce their policies, you're welcome to demand a refund and take your business elsewhere. Oh wait, you're the product. You didn't pay them anything. So I guess you can take being their product elsewhere.
Facebook is not liable - and users actually agree to not suing them for their own stupidity when they sign up.
No, that isn't their job at all.
No, why should they?
It is their company and not a Federal or State entity.
No, it is not Facebook's job to verify.
