A poem is a measure of expressed empathy, with a situation, feeling, observation
and often, rhythm, outer or inner, takes us with the poet to a finer of fresh or inspired perspective of our own..enhancing empathy or other responses, even more.

Poetry is music but without the musical tunes and so certain poems have an effect on a persons mood or feelings just like music .

When I write, it's because I have to. I write best when I'm under stress from problems, mine or those of others. The poetry becomes a means of problem solving. When everything's going well, I find it very difficult to write coherent, meaningful poems. Stress seems to give me focus, motivation, and ability to write.

Poetry is an art form as are painting, music, etc. It is a method of expressing oneself in a variety of ways, on a variety of subjects.

Money ??? Ha, no, I offer this quote. "There is no money in poetry, but then there is no poetry in money either."

As an author, poetry for me is a passion, as well as a form of therapy.

They enjoy it, and others enjoy reading it.
It stimulates the imagination, or may make
you see a vivid picture in your mind. It's
similar to art.
