A block of mass m is released on the top of a smooth inclined plane of length x and inclination theta. Horizontal surface is rough. If block comes to rest after moving a distance d on the horizontal surface, then coefficient of friction between block and surface is?

Refer to the diagram below.

Loss in P.E. = m g h = m g x sinθ
Energy to overcome friction = f d = μ m g d

Energy to overcome friction = Loss in P.E.
Coefficient of friction between the block and the surface, μ = x sinθ / d

The driving force is mg sin( theta)
The energy gained is mgx * sin(theta)
This goes into work on the horizontal surface mg * coefficient * d

equate the two and simplify
x * sin( theta) = d * coefficient
coefficient = x/d * sin(theta)

The potential energy mg*xsinΘ is consumed by the friction loss across the surface:
mg*xsinΘ = mg*µ*d so xsinΘ/d = µ
