Why do we humans take life so seriously when we’ll be dead in less than a hundred years anyway?

doesn't it only make sense that we would take life seriously since it won't last forever?

Work wise, practically & therefore technically & scientifically, if we haven't evolved so then we have

certainly BUILT UP our western world to be as technically educated.

And this likely wasn't always so - witness our human history where the vast majority is to be like farmers-and-all
working the fields & growing food.
Which could well have been A Happier Life, and/or a happier existence.

Nonetheless we are now witnessing the blasting-off-of-rockets and even witnessing our past,current actions
changing & radically affecting our home's atmosphere....

And is this not serious enough ?
Will we have to encounter aliens (a message possibly) before that is serious enough ?
More importantly, do we have to "save our species, our own lives/livelihoods" before it is serious ?

We CAN answer such questions.

Furthermore, via the History of Ideas -et al- it can be understood that a NEW PHILOSOPHY called
"objective philosophy" has come about during the last century (via the western world).

This pertinent & important new course-of-critical study has, as just ONE of its tenets/details
that PHILOSOPHY could & should be critically taught as detailed as & as sophisticated as
SCIENCE.
This would then result in a much better Content for western knowledge TOGETHER WITH a much
better METHODOLOGY (or method) for gathering knowledge also.

And no apologies ought to be made for this latter change, this virtual shift change in education.
For IT IS LONG OVERDUE - even students are now beginning to realise it (educators have realised
that SOMETHING is very Amiss within our current knowledge+education gathering systems).

"Philosophy" has been and is certainly now, "a significant key".*

FALSE. In every imaginable way you are benefiting from the hard work of others, both living and who have been long dead, who took life seriously enough to create and sustain civilization, and you benefit from their efforts nearly every second of your life, apparently without realizing it.

Okay, so I have five minutes to get the information I need or five hours. Which one makes me more attentive? Every day in here people ask, “why do people who have less place more value on a dollar?” But in the form you have asked it. Why would person with a short life fritter it away whereas an eternal vampire would take every moment so seriously? It seems like you all have it backwards: rare and unique equals less valuable to you and I don’t understand why.

If we really were just the result of billions of cosmic accidents, like the conformists want you to think, then nothing matters.

Or.... there is a God; and this world is a test and a way to the best of all possible worlds.


Why sit there until you die? 
If you remain where you are, you must perish. 
If you go to Jesus you will live. If you sit in sullen dispair no one can pity you when your ruin comes; but if you were to die SEEKING MERCY (as IF that were possible) you would be the object of universal sympathy. 

You know others who were saved by believing in Him (your own friends and neighbors); so why not you? Why not taste and see that the Lord is merciful? 

To perish is awful. We assure that if you seek Him, you will find Him, for He casts out none who come to Him. You shall not perish if you trust Him. On the contrary; you shall find treasure; eternal treasure, that will be stored up for you beyond this life. 

We preach to the living even where the vultures gather because we must. Because we know the truth, and the truth will set you free. Because we too were about to perish when we got up and sought mercy for ourselves. We preach because God has ordained us to do just that.  And you will want to preach too... to tell others about this amazing gift. Therein, you will find your purpose.

True enough - but for tonight, would you rather have a comfortable home, loving family, peace and quiet, or something else?

100 years is a long time.

It matters to me, personally, during that (hopefully) 90 years, and that outweighs any ultimate futility. Or, you could take the view that the end isn't any more important than the journey. Now is not some unseen future. We still have to deal with the now.

For example, when you want to take a decision on a subject, one after another they think and you just listen and choose or reject the ideas which they transmit to your mind through your brain in the form of thoughts. A human being during his/her lifetime is living with many spirits which have joined one by one since birth. All human beings are just unprogrammed robots made of flesh, bones, tissues etc., by birth and toys of the spirits for their games.

Things matter in life because no amount of rationalization is going to afford you a genuine shot at arguing yourself out of suffering. Go tell someone who has been arrested unfairly, on account of political reasons, tortured and treated in ways we would hardly wish on any enemy that their pain doesn't really matter. Tell them that in the grand scheme of life, they are but a spec of dust floating around on a blue dot, lost admist a world that is too wide to comprehend...
