Help me name my new pet.?

Don't be in a rush. You will find that most new pets sort of 'name themselves' after you get to know them. We can suggest names, but they may not suit him at all. If you want to name him based on color, there are many names - Inky, Midnight, Cinders, Coal, Raven, Crow, Shadow. Try out some names on him and see if they fit him. Go to the web sites that list human baby names, you may find ones that you like. Make a list, and see what suits him after you've gotten to know him for a few days.

If you don't like the name he has, feel free to change it. I had a cat (black) named Ted E. Bear (Teddy for short). The cat may already respond to his name Bear but you can easily change it. Use whatever name you want when you call him for food, pet him, etc. Use it often so he learns the new name.

Naming a pet should be PERSONAL so give yourself time to figure out a name YOU like. We could care less!

For a black cat, I would name it Midnight or Shadow. But as far as a name in general, I always liked the name Tapanga. I had a black cat with brown and white patches. Thats what I named him.
