What colour will paint over dark purple walls?
I've screwed my room up. There were patches everywhere after the second coat. I've gone over the patches and they've dried really dark compared to all the over parts of the wall. What colour will paint over this

You shouldn't be getting patches if you are using a reasonable brand of emulsion. Make sure you stir the paint thoroughly before application and use a roller. Pick a lighter color that you are happy with and give it a couple of coats.
You may need two or three coats of a lighter color/
Use Primer first, then the color paint you want. 2 coats.
Always have to use a special paint type primer over dark colors to move on to other colors....(inquire at paint store).....good luck.
From what I gather by your explanation, I think I realize what happened. You patched the walls and did not prime the patched areas. Therefore, the patched areas absorbed the paint at a different rate than the rest of the walls, resulting in color differences. Don't worry, this is an easy fix.
All you have to do is buy some dry wall primer (you can brush it on and clean up with soap and water). Paint only the patched areas. After the primer dries, you may want to apply another coat of primer. Then when that dries, paint over the primed areas with the dark purple paint and presto, you will not see or notice the patched discolored areas, which will match the rest of the walls when the paint dries.
This is a common mistake and is easily fixable.
Buy a high quality primer, have it tinted and after a good coat or two of it paint it the color you want. Explain to the paint guy/gal what you need covered, they will advise you with their training to get it done.
