US Army Enlistment?

I live outside the states and I'm not a citizen. But I have relatives there and my whole life I wanna be a ranger or green berets. I contacted a recruiter and he told me I gotta get a green card then process for my enlistment.

My question is; once I do get a green card, can I opt for an Option 40 or 18x even if I'm not a US citizen? I heard that they grant citizenships faster when you join the military. Is it possible to have my citizenship after basic? I don't care about the citizenship that much but all I know is that I gotta serve with the best guys.

Yes, there is a path to citizenship and it is possible to finish it during basic training. Notice that "possible" does NOT mean automatic. There are still many other requirements. You must be a permanent resident first before enlisting. That means you have had your green card 2 years before it is granted.

Yes you can currently file for citizenship as soon as you are in Basic but you realistically cannot until AIT minimum. No you cannot apply for that option until you have actually been granted citizenship which can take months to go through.

First, you have to actually GET that "green card". NOT as easy as you may think. Work on that first.

Stick to playing your Xbox and Call of Duty 4 as that is about as far as your going to get!

You must be able to obtain a Secret clearance in order to get an Option 40 or 18X contract -- no exceptions. A green card will allow you to enlist for SOME MOS and you won't be able to get a clearance until you are a citizen.

Take one step at a time. Get your green card, then work on the citizenship. Military can help, but it won't be instant. Very doubtful if you would get it immediately after Basic.

IF and WHEN you get “Green Card, you won’t be eligable for an 18x contract as you are NOT eligible for a Security Clearance as you are NOT a US Citizen.

You probly won’t get an option 40 contract unless the pool of eligable US Citizens has TOTALLY dried up.

You will NOT be eligible for US Citizenship UNTILL AFTER you have enlisted, gone through BCT and completed AIT.

the only relatives that can sponsor you is a spouse, child sibling or parent. if your US family is not any of these these things the rest f your question is moot, but no you cannot apply for any of that training until you are a citizen.

you re not eligible for citizenship just because you enlist. you still need to meet all the other residency requirements. they just fast track it so that it takes like a year instead of 5 or six and waive most of the accompanying fees
