If you believe the Brady-ites, New England's success is due solely to his presence. They're convinced that the Pats wouldn't have 5 Super Bowl wins without him but that assumption is a myth.
There is no disputing that the Bulls would not have won 6 titles without Jordan. Jordan was a man among boys when he played.
So the comparison is simple: Jordan is the man and Brady is the myth.
One is a football player and the other is a basketball player.
You can't meaningfully compare athletes of different sports, and the author makes a lot of initial assumptions that I don't agree with.
I don't understand the disqualification of individual sports in the discussion - individual athletes still have a "team" around them, and the statement he makes insults the drive to win that individual athletes display. How can you have a discussion about the GOAT that doesn't include Tiger Woods? Tiger changed golf. "Tiger Proofing" courses was a thing that happened, and the 2008 US Open was no less impressive than anything that a team athlete has done in a bid for a championship.
If we're looking to basketball, why Michael Jordan? Why not Kareem Abdul-Jabbar? Kareem recorded more career points, rebounds, assists, MVP awards, and All-Star appearances, and he has 6 championship rings just like Jordan - and these numbers came while playing side-by-side with Magic Johnson for half of his career.
He goes on to look at a number of other ridiculous criteria that make no sense.
No they play two different sports
Nope, but the talking heads need something to debate.
Nope
2 entirely different sports
No Michael Jordan never cheated
Yes it's possible, but it's a terrible idea to do it.
They're both the GOAT's of their respective sports, both were passed over in the draft due to their size, both were well regarded for their post-season play.. There are a lot of crossover.
I'd compare the Patriots run to San Antonio's since drafting Tim Duncan, however.
both are tops in their sports
Article is nonsense anyways... Wayne Gretzky is so far and away the greatest of all time that it's a joke having the discussion about anyone else. Take away every single goal that Gretzky ever scored and he's STILL the top point scorer in NHL history
Jord an was nothing, he never excelled against the fierce competition like primtime Bird Magic
No, it isn't possible for any number of reasons.
Tampa Bay or Cleveland couldn't even win their division with Brady at QB. Any NBA team with average players and Jordan could have won any division in the NBA.
This question is so bad I doubt if you ever saw Jordan play.
