Pros and cons of being in the Marines v.s Navy?

Marines will send you to Iraq or Afghanistan to get shot at.

Navy will send you to Australia, Japan, Thailand, Singapore and many other pleasure spots.

Your choice. Same pay.

The duty selection in the Marines is much more limited than the Navy. Most of the Marine jobs are closely related to ground combat and getting down and dirty. The Navy supplies a lot of the support to the Marines so if you want to be a medic, doctor, nurse, etc then you need to go into the Navy. Marines get to do embassy duty so if you want to go to a foreign nation and be there for a while join the Marines. (Of course you could be sent to a hell hole like Yemen.)
