Chemistry gas equilibrium constant?

The system 4NO <--> N2 + N2O4

has a constant temp of 50ºC and constant volume, and begins at a pressure of 100 bar. If the reaction is fully complete the final pressure should be 50 bar. (I hope that's right).

What is the equilibrium constant Kp if the final pressure is measured at 82.0 bar?

Thanks so much, will give BA straight away.

✔ 最佳答案
____________ 4NO(g) __ ⇌ __ N₂(g) __ + __ N₂O₄(g) ___ Kp
Initial: ______ 100 bar _______ 0 bar ______ 0 bar
Change: _____ -4y bar ______ +y bar ______ +y bar
At eqm: __ (100 - 4y) bar _____ y bar _______ y bar

Final pressure in bar :
(100 - 4y) + y + y = 82
100 - 2y = 82
2y = 18
y = 9

Equilibrium pressure :
P(NO) = (100 - 4×9) bar = 64 bar
P(N₂) = P(N₂O₄) = 9 bar

Kp = P(N₂)•P(N₂O₄)/P(NO)⁴ = (9 bar)²/(64 bar)⁴ = 4.8 × 10⁻⁶ (bar⁻²)
