Can I stop being cheap?

I’m 18 and still not allow to have a job. (I’m not sure until I graduate though) Christmas pass and I just received 200$ from my aunt and Mom. I have a debit card that I don’t want to go under 100$. I want to buy stuff (like shoes and clothes) but I can’t bring myself to spend any of my money. Why?

I'd say Its just because you're afraid to spend it. Let yourself live a little and spend some. make yourself feel comfortable and give yourself a budget like i'm not spending more than 100 dollars and just dont go over that limit

If you are 18, you do not need anyone's permission to get a job.

Being frugal is smart, not a crime. When you get to the point you have to spend money, you will.

That's a good thing. Most Americans have serious problems with saving and live from paycheck to paycheck needlessly. They are constantly stressed out and unable to afford emergency car repairs or medical care. Nor can they afford a secure retirement at a reasonable age. It's seriously tragic.

If you don't want to spend money, don't spend it. The important t hing is that you don't obsess with money. We tend to pick up our attitudes about money from watching our parents. Watch for sales and know firmly what you don't need. You'll thank God for it one day long down the road.
