So I got my eye test results and it says my DVA: is 20/20- What does that mean? Especially the minus sign? Is it serious?

DVA = Distance Visual Acuity.

Summed up, this is the test when looking across the examination room at the optometrist office at the line of letters. When you read the lines to the doctor, or his assistant.

20/20 is the ideal size to be able to read (usually the smallest line on his board). 20/20- means that you were able to correctly read 5 out of 6 of the letters on the size 20 line of the DVA sign.

This is a good sign, it means that you have good vision. It's very common to not be able to see all 6 of them perfectly.

If they prescribed your a prescription glasses, it's likely that the power of the lenses is so low that you would barely notice a difference. Therefore you're better off not spending the money on, and wearing glasses. As you can see nearly perfectly.

Consider yourself lucky! :)

DVA is Distance Visual Acuity

The - sign means you read the 20/20 line but with a couple of errors......you are still 20/20 , everything is fine.
