Do I need internet to install GTA5 on my Xbox one?

I just bought Xbox one and GTA5, I have the hard disc and when I put it in my Xbox to install it I get a message telling me to connect to the internet???? Why do I. We’d the internet if I have the disc?!?!

You should be able to tell it to play without updating, but then you can't play online.In order to play online, you do have to have the latest version installed, which means you have to have all of the patches updated and current.

The game isn't on the disc, you do need internet, it is more like an authentication key.

You need the Internet because since the game's launch, there have been many updates that fixes bugs and adds new content. All of which isn't present on the disc, it has to be downloaded.
