Why do people say "what is the world coming to?"?

acting like things are getting so much worse. Have these people ever taken a history lesson on the 20th century?

History explains how they know bad things are coming.

if you have to learn about the 20th century in a lesson rather than have live through some of it then you wouldnt understand
