English grammar question, please help, very much.
This AR (Augmented Reality) gadget provides its viewers with an immersive experience. Objects _____ out from the film seems so real.
(A)pop
(B)popping
(C)popped
(D)pops
I’m an English learner, for the above question, the given answer is B, but I can’t understand the reason; because "objects popped out" is also used very often. Your explanation will be much appreciated.

It would be 'popping' because it's a continuous action - it's short for 'objects which are popping out from ...'

It can't be 'popped' because of the rest of the sentence. They use 'seems' - the present tense. And if you ask yourself WHAT seems so real, the answer is 'objects (which are) popping out from the film'.

I hope that explains it okay!

This is because you are speaking in present tense. Because it says "seem so real" (the s should be removed) you use the word popping. However, if it said "seemED so real" then you would use popped.

Hope this helps ! :)

Popped out is past, u need to describe smth which is happening at the same time u re using glasses.mthis is why u use participle 1. Participle 2 usually is for action in the past or completed action

"popping" is the only one that makes sense. "popped" is past tense. Also it's "seem so real" not "seems so real".

B

By the way, "seems" should be "seem." "Objects" is the subject, not "film." Since "objects" is plural, the plural conjugation "seem" is required. The conjugation "seems" is for singular subjects.

The reason it's B is "popping out from the film" is an absolute phrase, which is a kind of modifier. You could just as well say:

* Popping out from the film, objects seem so real.

* Objects seem so real popping out from the film.

Those mean the exact same thing as "Objects popping out from the film seem so real."

Subject: Objects
* Complete subject: Objects popping out from my eyes
* Modifier: popping out from my eyes
** adjective/present participle: popping out (phrasal verb: pop out)
** prepositional phrase: from my eyes
*** preposition: from
*** complete object of preposition: my eyes
**** possessive pronoun determiner: my
**** object of the preposition: eyes

Verb: seem

Adjectival phrase: so real
* adverb: so (modifies adjective)
* real: adjective
