Two ice skaters are initially at rest before pushing off each other. Skater A has a mass of 69.3 kg and skater B has a mass of 61.1 kg. If skater B has a speed of 4.4 M/S to the right after the push, what is the speed of skater A?

(61.6 x 4.4)/69.3 = V of 3.9m/sec. to the left.Both have the same momentum.

(69.3 kg)( v ) + (61.1 kg)(4.4 m/s) = 0 =>
v = -(4.4 m/s)(611/693) = -3.9 m/s...meaning, 3.9 m/s to the left.
