There's always room for improvement... congratulations on passing the test!
Parallel parking is a very useful skill. In many downtown areas it is the only parking available. It is not hard if it is done step by step. First, pull alongside the car in front of the space so your seat back is even with its front bumper. Leave less than a foot between the cars; my instructor had us leave six inches. You will end up about the same distance to the curb that you are from the car. Turn the wheel hard and back up slowly, watching behind you, until you are at a 45 degree angle. Just ask yourself when you check the angle: am I more straight or more sideways? When You can't tell the difference, turn the wheel back all the way. Creep back, watching behind you and stopping occasionally to see if you are going to clear the car in front of you. You should end up perfectly in the spot. Hey, it could be worse... for the on-road test for a CDL I had to practice parallel parking a 16 foot snow cat trailer. (The boss shut the CDL course down when he realized the hours of service would mean I couldn't work all night, something that happens fairly often. Good thing, too... I was really bad at backing it through a serpentine!)
