Hurricane Deductible?

Hi!

I m not really sure if I understand this but I just received a letter from my insurance company after filing a claim that says that:

Your hurricane deductible in the amount of $4760 has been applied to your payment.

Does this mean that I have to pay $4760 now?

Deductible means the amount which is not payable. Say for example your claim amount which is payable is $ 100 and deductible is 5% , it means you wont get back $5 but you will be paid $ 95.
Hope it makes you understand. To make it even more simpler , $ 4760 is recovered and retained by the Insurance Company as per terms of policy and the balance amount is paid to you.

It means that you pay the first $4760 of the claim for damages and the insurance company pays any excess.

That means your insurance company doesn't have to pay you for that much of your loss.
