Chinese: 1. Is it considered bad luck for number 24? as it sounds like "starve-die-die"?

2. it was given 24$ in red envelope as to be the best man for my chinese cousin, is it even appropriate? (I'm kinda offended when I learned Chinese usually avoid numbers ending in 4 and I got just that)
3. She is from Chaozhou, does number 24 have any other meaning sounding?

Thanks.

You probably were given $24 (not 24$) in a red envelope. Red is the sign of good luck and good fortune in China. Don't read too much into the rest of it.
