Why, (explain to an Englishman), would anybody help the Federal Authorities and then go into witness protection...?

...if the TV and movies are even 10 per cent true, (more than likely), then the Feds don't give a damn about you, or if you live or die as long as they get a result; they can't protect you properly and they are bound, by the law of averages, to have been infiltrated by tech-savvy criminals at most levels these days?

Honestly? It's usually either (a) because the person knows that they will be murdered f they don't go into witness protection, so it's their only chance to stay alive, or (b) because the government has enough evidence to send the person to prison, so it's their only chance to stay free.
