What happens when you mix Potassium Permanganate solution and Sodium Hydroxide and Sugar?

Potassium permanganate is an oxidizing agent, while sugar is a reducing agent. Therefore, oxidation-reduction reaction occurs. Potassium permanganate in alkaline medium will be reduced to brown precipitate of manganese(IV) oxide and the deep purple solution is decolorized.
MnO₄⁻(aq) + 2H₂O(l) + 3e⁻ → MnO₂(s) + 4OH⁻(aq)
