3.30 g of toluene (C7H8) is burned in a bomb calorimeter. The following reaction occurs.
C7H8(l) + 9 O2(g) → 7 CO2(g) + 4 H2O(l)
The temperature of the calorimeter changes from 21.1°C to 38.3°C. Given that the heat capacity of the calorimeter is 8.14 kJ/°C, find the amount of heat generated per mole of toluene.

Heat released in burning C₇H₈ in experiment = (8.14 J/°C) × (38.3 - 21.1)°C = 140 kJ

Molar mass of C₇H₈ = (12.0×7 + 1.0×8) g/mol = 92.0 g/mol
No. of moles of C₇H₈ reacted in experiment = (3.3 g) / (92.0 g/mol) = 0.0359 mol

Heat generated in burning C₇H₈ = (140 kJ) / (0.0359 mol C₇H₈) = 3900 kJ/mol C₇H₈
