4KNO3=2K2O+2N2+5O2 (balanced equation)

A: how many moles of KNO3 are available?
B: How many moles of N2 should form?
C: Assuming the gasses are collected under STP, what is the volume of N2 that could be collected?

B)
4KNO₃ → 2K₂O + 2N₂ + 5O₂
Mole ratio KNO₃ : N₂ = 4 : 2 = 2 : 1
No. of moles of N₂ formed = (0.6429 mol) × (1/2) = 0.321 mol

C)
Gas law: PV = nRT
Then, V = nRT/P
Volume of N₂, V = (0.321 mol) × [0.0821 atm L / (mol/K)] × (273 K) / (1 atm) = 7.19 L
