Which is a better vacation destination: Seattle/Vancouver or Los Angeles?

My family and I are deciding where to go on vacation for Summer 2018 and we are wanting to know which one is better just in general.

We've been to LA once (I was 9 then, now I'm 18). I don't know if it's worth going there because I kind o have some glimpse memories of LA. The positive side to LA is that it is more of a tourist destination with attractions but I myself am leaning more towards Seattle and Vancouver because we've never been there and I think it's cool to see over there once. Any idea from past experience if you've been to either city which one you liked more and why?

I have lived in Vancouver BC from 1980 to 2001 and from 2010 to the present. In LA from 2001 to 2010, I dearly love both places and these are two of the top vacation places in the world. Between then, I would suggest LA to be seen first as while it is very spread out, there are more famous places to go and see.

But once you have seen LA, them Seattle and Vancouver are a very strong number 2 place to visit. That picture posted above is the Capilano Suspension Bridge in North Vancouver, A fun place to go if you are OK with a lot of stair climbing. It is very close to the Grouse Mountain aerial tramway that will take you to a mountain top with an incredible view. The Granville Public Market is a good place to see as well.

In Seattle there is what looks like a train wreck near the Space Needle which in reality is a great rock and roll museum and a great science fiction museum. The Seattle Underground tour I also found to be interesting. You also have to to the waterfront for some Ivar's Clam Chowder.

There are two Boeing museums, One on Marginal Way south of downtown and another at Paine field, just off Interstate 5 in Everett. That one includes tours of the 747/777/787 plant.

Vancouver, BC. One of my favorite cities to visit. Lots to do, but it's more outdoors stuff like salmon runs, Stanley Park, suspension bridges (see photo), water tour around the island, and such. But no theme parks.

Not so much LA, I used to live there (Los Alamitos) and it's too smoggy, too spread out, and too filled with phonies. And theme parks can be repetitious and tiring after awhile.

Definitely Seattle
