Santa was never real to begin with for our children. However, we did tell them of St. Nicholas.

Truth is best. Nothing to undermine their relationship with the LORD, if their parents did not start out by lying to them.

Yeah, as you can imagine, some of our family had to put in their 2 cents. Some stopping just short of calling this part of our child rearing method "abuse". We took live-and-let-live approach when dealing with their children. We told ours "Other parents let their kids believe Santa is real etc.; let us not be the ones who tell them otherwise. ".

Take some advice from a successful parent. Never lie to your children. Santa, god, Tooth Fairy, are concepts, not realities. They learn quickly even when very young, and they remember long. Lie to them when they are little, and when they are adults, they will remember you as a liar. Be honest and fair with your kids, and they turn into your friends when they become adult.

Absolutely not, our two children were told, and they never complained.

At children’s parties they were asked: why “we celebrate Christmas.” The usual reply: To get presents. But there is another danger:

Many adults feed children dishonesties and distortions which eventually may lead to atheism. From a child’s eye view, if Santa told as truth is a lie, then maybe God told as truth also is a lie.

Whereas the true lesson of Christmas is a message of divine mercy and sacrifice, Santa is the front man for greedy corporations, and the tutor in greed for millions of American children. He is the saint of gimme.

He has become a total sellout to materialism and greed. He is in the pay of the big toy manufacturers and department stores. A greedy child is never appeased.

A spoiled child appreciates nothing. An overindulged child is convinced that the major figure of Christmas is not Christ, but himself.”

Let them be children. They will find out sooner than you think all on their own. Besides, if you look at it, they are all spirits of goodness. We need more of that today.
