Can someone explain how to get the answer for this problem "How many mL of a 10.0 M stock solution of NaOH will it take to prepare 2.50 L of a 0.500 M solution?". I am trying to study for a test and cannot figure it out.

Stock solution: C₁ = 10.0 M, V₁ = ? mL
Diluted solution: C₂ = 0.500 M, V₂ = 2.5 L = 2500 mL

The number of moles of solute is unchanged in diluting the solution.
C₁ V₁ = C₂ V₂
Then, V₁ = V₂ × (C₂/C₁)

Volume of stock solution used, V₁ = (2500 mL) × (0.500/10.0) = 125 mL
