The US military is stronger than the military forces of the next 6 countries put together. It's more a matter of how those resources are deployed. There are a number of reasons why the US does not typically choose to just bomb a country off the face of the map- too many civilian deaths, for one thing. However, it does appear that ISIS has been defeated, by a combination of efforts coordinated among several forces.
