1274 people work at three departments of a factory. The second department employs 70 people more than the first one and the third department employs 84 more workers than the second one. How many people work in each department?

1274 = a+a+70+a+154
a = 350
b = 420
c = 504
1274 = a+a+70+a+154
a = 350
b = 420

x= first department, x+70=second department, x+70+84=third department. x+x+70+x+70+84=1274, 3x+224=1274, 3x=1050, x=350 first department, 420 second department and 504 third department, 350+420+504=1274
