My daughter went over on her left foot, rolled her ankle, on 24/08. I thought she had broke it. We got an X-ray and one doc said she had, another said she hadn't. In the end they said they think she has stretched her ligament.
Her ankle remained swollen for quite some time, around 2 weeks. She began walking on it, running on it and kept rolling back over, and starting again, she is 6 and very athletic so it's quite a challenge to get her to stay still. Eventually she made improvements but her foot has gone in slightly and she walks with a gait.
Then, last week, she was playing and her other foot just collapsed. She screamed, her foot became bruised and swollen. I've applied ice etc, done all the things we did with the other one. But she continues to now go over on this right foot over and over again.
I don't know what to do! Is there a specialist I can take her to? Does she have a problem with her ligaments? Does she need an air cast to stop her running?
I just don't know what to do with her. She is so so strong and generally heals so fast yet her ankles are weak, swollen and just not healing. I get she keeps doing things she shouldn't, but she didn't really do anything on this one for it to injure in the first place. I'm concerned. She was born for sport, it's hurting me but really affecting her, what can I do?
