How long does a treated cold sore last?

Yesterday I noticed a red spot just above my upper lip and it seems to be a cold sore. It doesn't hurt or itch but I can't think of anything else it could be. I put some honey on it and my sister is going to bring me an ointment from the pharmacy in a while. How long will it last if it's treated with it? Is it possible that it's not gonna "bloom" if I use the ointment?

Usually a week or two. Untreated they can last 2-4 weeks.
If it's a cold sore then it shouldn't get worse with treatment.

It depends upon the ointment. The more expensive ones work the best.

I get cold sores once in a while and the doctor prescribed pills for me, so if i feel as if i'm getting one, i just take the medication and they never get the chance to pop out completely.

Instead of generic meds, although a little expensive, use Abreva. It’ll be gone in 4 days tops.
