Molar mass of O = 16.00 g/mol

In 1.626 g of the compound:
Number of moles of As = (1.060 g) / (74.92 g/mol) = 0.01415 mol
Number of moles of O = (1.626 - 1.060 g) / (16.00 g/mol) = 0.03538 mol

Mole ratio As : 0
= 0.01415 : 0.03538
= 0.01415/0.1415 : 0.03538/0.1415
= 1 : 2.5
= 2 : 5

Hence, empirical formula = As₂O₅
