If the price of sin is suffering in hell for eternity and Jesus paid the price for all sinners, why is He still not suffering on the cross?

To John Pike and Glenn S: We are told that, after the second death occurs, the wicked will be 'ashes under your feet'. That sounds like total annihilation. Jesus did all things as an example. He suffered 'day and night' - one day, one night. That should tell us something about the second death. For those wanting more info on what the BIBLE says (the whole picture) - I put together everything I could find on the topic. http://www.judyspatch.com/--hell.php I want to believe truth, not a lie.

John 3:16 'For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes on Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.' Only two options here - PERISH or have ETERNAL LIFE. What is it about 'perish' that we don't understand, people?

Because it is finished. (John 19:30) He paid the debt and the debt has been forgiven. He is now at the right hand of the Father in heaven interceding in those that love him behalf.

Who says that the penalty for sin is eternal suffering in a place called Hell? It never says, nor does it imply such a thing in God's Word in the Bible! In the Bible the Lord clearly tells us that all shall be reconciled back to Him via Universal Reconciliation.

Our Lord is still suffering with great sorrow for the human forms still present on earth.

Remember, when Jesus appeared to Thomas after the Resurrection, our Lord presented His hands and side to the Apostle and the crucifixion marks were still present; John 20:24-29.

According to the Bible the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is everlasting life through his son Jesus Christ the Bible does not say that the punishment for sin is eternal torture

One would have to deduce that the price of sin is not suffering torment in hell forever.

The fact of the matter, because sin, is eternal death, and if we are not truly saved by the Lord Jesus Christ than we will be destroyed in the end. Read Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. The reason why the Lord paid for sinners once is because, the Lord Jesus Christ is eternal God, and the cross was a demonstration of how God suffered from before the foundation of the world, that is why the Lord Jesus Christ is called the lamb of God, that was slain from before the foundation of the world, the cross also gave Satan a death blow, and bound and chained Satan for 1000 years, but the 1000 years is up and now Satan is loosed out of the bottomless pit, prowling around the world, seeking to destroy everything that the Lord Jesus Christ has created from before the foundation of the world, because Satan knows that he only has a little season until the Lord Jesus Christ comes back to judge the living and the dead and too destroy the heaven and the earth by fire, the second death, where the heaven and the earth shall be burned up, by the hell fires. read Ephesians 2:8 read Galatians 5:17-23 read James 3:6-8 read Hebrews 4:12 read Romans 1:17-32 read Romans 6:23

Jesus created the heavens and Earth, walked in the Garden with Adam and Eve, suffered death on the cross, rose again from the dead, ascended into heaven, sits at the right hand of the Father all at the same moment.

For an eternal Being, a Being without time, a Supreme Being, everything is already done.

Christians don't say, "If you believe in Jesus you will be saved." We say, "If you believe in Jesus you are saved."

(Ecclesiastes 9:5) 5 For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all, neither do they anymore have wages, because the remembrance of them has been forgotten.

I learned the truth at seventeen,
The church was just a greed machine
That served the thieves with winning smiles
Who fleece the flock and then retire
The worship groups I never knew
The Sunday night charades of fools
Were spent on one more gullible
At seventeen I learned the truth

That let you know that there is a flaw in that statement. Jesus died and buried. Acts 2:31 He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption. 32 God resurrected this Jesus, and of this we are all witnesses.

Just before he died Jesus cried
"It is finished!"
His work of suffering was complete for all time.
God knows all human souls from the past to the end of the world -meaning human life on this planet His suffering benefits people who are to be saved, past, present and future..
Angels came and strengthened him in order to bear the suffering and physically to live long enough to pay the full penalty of sin -man's rebellion against God's 'voice' God's 'Kingship'..

You have a false premise.

For someone who has sinned, his punishment is hell after death. But Jesus HAD NOT sinned. He is God who came in the flesh to redeem the world. He had the power to lay down His life for sinners and He had the power to raised Himself up while in the body of Jesus. Justice, meaning through the way of an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, people have not and will never learn how to be righteous, so God chose to grant people the easier way to do it, by giving them the gift of grace that by believing Jesus' death on the cross that cleanse their sins, they will be set free from the curse of sins and death, and be made righteous by faith in Jesus. But this free gift has not been appreciated as it should, and it is even being mocked.

The Great Mystery:
God was manifested in the flesh,
Justified in the Spirit,
Seen by angels, Preached among the Gentiles,
Believed on in the world,
Received up in glory.

The above words describe Jesus. source is<< Timothy 3:16>> in New King James Bible

May you be blessed and find God oneday, God is sooooooo Good indeed!!!!!!!

God does not punish people in hell...

Romans 6:23 - For the wages sin pays is death, but the gift God gives is everlasting life by Christ Jesus our Lord.

Ecclesiastes 9:5, 10 - For the living know that they will die, but the dead know nothing at all, nor do they have any more reward, because all memory of them is forgotten... Whatever your hand finds to do, do with all your might, for there is no work nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom in the Grave, where you are going.

The wages of sin is death.

Because the concept of eternity is hard to grasp, even for the fiction writers who invented Jesus.

the romans took him down when he died. simple.

if he died for our sins,.. then were sin free, right?

Good question. And this boils down to how you understand the Atonement(Jesus's Crucifixion) in salvation.

(i)Jesus did not die to satisfy God's wrath(I dont believe)
-This is a particular understanding of the Atonement called Penal Substitution developed by John Calvin.
-In the Early Church they held to the Christus Victor model, Christ died to conquer sin and death, not to satisfy God's Wrath.
-This concept is a Paganized understanding of God's Wrath.

(ii)The Creeds speak of Christ descending to Hell
-In the Apostles Creed it says Christ descended into Hell
-St Cyril of Alexandria states that in his descent Christ destroyed the power of Hell and left the Devil alone and abandoned.

(iii)St Paul speaks of Christ's atonement reconciling everyone
-In his letter to the Colossians St Paul speaks of Christ's sacrifice as reconciling all things and people in creation back to himself.

So to answer the question, Christ did suffer all the consequences of sin. And that is death which is the penalty for sin, and hell which is separation from the Love of God. The reason why he's not stilling suffering on the cross is because of his Resurrection and the fact that God the Father exercised judgement on the sin of the world that put Jesus on the cross.

Read the Bible. Jesus was sent here by GOD to be our teacher. His lessons include that some sins can be forgiven IF one prays to GOD and asks GOD for foreignness and IF the person will NOT do that sin again! If one asks for forgiven of a sin and plans to do it again, Neither that sin or any following will be removed!
Also If one takes GOD's name in vain, that Sin withNOT be forgiven!
Jesus went up to Heaven after doing ALL GOD had Jesus come and teach us! Jesus now sits Beside GOD Heaven!

Too much of a woos...crucifixion was supposed to last three days but sweet Jesus was too wimpy to hang on for more than three hours..
