trying to study for a test and got stuck on this question.

Take g = 9.81 m/s²

Gravitational potential energy
= m g h
= 0.5 × 9.81 × 3 J
= 15 J

PE = m*g*h

m= 0.5kg
g = standard gravity = 9.80665 m/s2
h = 3 m

PE = 0.5 * 9.80665 * 3 = 14.709975 J

Now round down to appropriate sigfigs:
15 J
