it's been living on my window sill for months now. there used to be two, the other one was slightly smaller and had a white circle with white spots in the middle of it. It's now gone i'm convinced this one has probably killed it😂 i'm convinced its a false widow, as the markings on its back are much more like the "grey skull" marking supposedly famed on false widows

You guessed it, False black widow, Steatoda genus of cobweb spider. Really a harmless sort.
It likes the window because bugs are attracted and get caught in her web.
The skull pattern is normal for a couple species, a location may narrow which one.
I had one like yours lived in my enclosed porch her whole life, Never bothered a soul, just a messy web in the rafters.
She looks adult so may not be around too much longer, just admire her until she vanishes.
When I was a kid, I used to make live yo-yo's with them playing with them. They play dead or web off hands so not much fun to play with.
>>The smaller may have been a male, good chance he was eaten.

Well, I am not saying it is.
But it DOES look very, very, similar to one.
I would certainly kill it.
