Bed sheets typically come in a set with a top sheet, a fitted sheet and a pillow case. These sheets have direct contact with your body as you sleep.

A quilt is typically made of cotton fabric pieces that are sewn together in a pattern design, which has a thin layer of batting between the two cotton outer layers and top stitched together so no layers separate. A quilt is used as the last decorative layer to provide warmth on a bed.

Covers is a broad term which defines any number of things that go over a bed: a quilt (as described above); a coverlet (light weight single layer bedspread); a blanket (made of cotton, wool or any other number of fibers); comforter (two layers of fabric to which hold low, medium or high loft filling to create a fluffy comforter); Duvet (a duvet is somewhat like a comforter, but it is filled with down feathers only); Duvet Cover (a large covering, like a huge pillow case, that a Duvet fits into in order to keep it clean).

A duvet is a "holder" to put a quilt in. (If you want to change your look). Bed sheets are usually fitted on the mattress, and flat on top, which you sleep between. Cover are blankets, bed spread & comforter.

Sheets are the thin cotton things that cover the mattress. Covers are your blankets. A duvet is a cover for your comforter (a puffy blanket) and a quilt is a flat quilted coverlet.

Bed sheet is the thing that covers the mattress. It's literally a thin sheet of fabric.

Covers are anything (usually a duvet or multiple blankets) that cover the sheet and you when sleeping.

The quilt is basically the duvet. The padded cover that is warm that goes over you.
