Why is [log(x)]/[log(y)]=log_y(x)? How did this happen? Why did the denominator become the base of the numerator? Can you please explain?

to change the base of logarithms from a to 10 we do as follow:

log_a(b) = log(b)/log(a)

So in this case: log_y(x) = log(x)/log(y) => base was changed from y to 10
