I am happy to see Helen goes beyond grammatical syntax and starts to look at the structure and the semantics.

１．一個句子，是說話者用來表達她這個人的主觀意志．這句話，倒是不一定要有事實上的合理性．

２．海倫在與男友約會的時候，當他送妳到家門口的時候，妳會跟他說
＂That was a good date and I enjoyed it＂
還是
＂That is a good date and I enjoy it＂
要是我，我會用前者．但是理智的海倫王　竟然還會用理智的頭腦　想說＂明明約會還沒結束　我當然要用現在式＂

３．我記得，在學中語的時候，在很多畢業感言之中都會說＂過去這四年．．．＂但是她明明是明天在畢業典禮之後才畢業的．為神還要說＂過去四年＂呢．

４．體會一下，說話者使用 "in retrospect" 的＂（他主觀的）心情＂．妳應該會明白的．

5. by the way, it is "unfolded", not "unforded". and it is a good word to learn.

:would "is used for describing a possible event that did not in fact happen, because something else did not happen first.
eg:-If I had seen the event final 2001 in time, I would have thought "this was not just any year.
eg:-I would never have thought final 2001 if 2000 hadn't gone(=in retrospect) to "new millennium"(=was not just any year.)

retrospect/noun--Idiom--in retropect thinking about a past event or situation, often with a different opinion of it from the one you had(=2000 December.)
eg:-In retrospect, I think I was wrong of the final of 2001 to the millennium.
eg:-The final 2001 seems extremely undecided, in restrospect.
Recomend to use seems for was:-
eg:-It is the end of another year.
eg:-but this (was) not just any year...
eg:-It (was) the first year of the "new millennium"...
