Why is it that most people tend to be more conservative as they get older?

If you are in your 20's and aren't a liberal, you don't have a heart.
If you are in your 30's and aren't a conservative, you don't have a brain.
If you are in your 40's and haven't become a cynic, you didn't pay attention in your 20's and 30's.

The philosophy makes more sense as one's faculties decline.

Thye have to pay the taxes. It is easy to demand government pay for things until you get the tax bill.

As older people accumulate wealth they want to protect what they have and the republican propaganda sounds like they will proectt your wealth.

Not me I have grown more liberal because I see the inherent hypocrisy of conservatism!

They used to claim to be 'compassionate Christians' yet want to cut/eliminate the social safety net designed to help the most vulnerable in our society!

Want to talk about their 'fiscal conservatism' since the beginning of this century?

Bush43 gave a huge tax cuts mostly to the wealthy when he took office. He put us on the road to deficit spending! All the war spending was through special appropriations that added directly to the debt without being reflected in the yearly budget deficit!!!

They don't. It's the opposite.

That's not necessarily true. Society is just getting gayer by the decade.
