I have been wanting to sponsor a child in Africa. But I don't know of any websites to go to.?

SOS Children s Villages! They are a non-denominational charity that provides homes for orphaned children in Africa and around the world. When you sponsor a child with them, the money actually goes to raising that child.

There are a number of charities which help impoverished children in various African, Latin American, & Asian countries. Although some of these organizations may call it "sponsorship," it has nothing whatsoever to do with immigration.

E.g. Save the Children, Oxfam, WorldVision/Vision Fund & various churches provide support in the form of aiding schools, digging wells for safe water in remote villages, etc. Doctors Without Borders provides medical assistance. Check with your church to see if it has any missions or schools in Africa (or elsewhere), and look up various charities. ALWAYS investigate very thoroughly to ensure funds raised go to programs, not staff, etc.
