Going to study in the UK. What are the good reasons to rent over 40 weeks of accomodation?
Will give best answers for appropriate answer.
I am going study in England though I noticed that private halls, houses tend to have over 40 weeks for certain reasons. Though the service and benefits seem to be a lot better. The price per week is almost the same.
Despite of that I am not sure if I will be staying over at the summer and thus don't really see the need to stay for over 40 weeks.
I know that during the second and third year there will be an opportunity for an internship.

A lot of students don't return home over the summer (those that live far away, those that have furniture or other things that they'd need to move or put into storage, those who simply prefer to live where they are rather than going home!)
Most only rent for term-time and the short vacations. Universities run courses in the long vac for summer schools, so accommodation providers often rent out their property accordingly. Others use the time to renovate rooms. Internships may not even be in the same town, so you wouldn't need the accommodation.
All my lets were for 12 months as they were off campus, but the Halls of Residence were only for a week before the first term and a week after the last term. Post graduate accommodation tends to be the full year because most candidates are doing research as part of their course.
Not sure what you want to know. Rentals are for term time or a year at at time, where are going to live during the summer holidays?
An Internship is not going to give you accommodation.
