If I ask my principal not to give me a class with someone who triggers my anxiety, do you think she will do it?
Freshman year of high school, I was friends with a guy and a couple months later, our friendship ended terribly. We hated each other for a year afterwards. A couple months ago, I was sent to the principals office because of a fight he and I had online. It was in the office where I promised the principal I wasn't going to give in to his bait anymore. Truthfully, I don't do anything to him and vice versa. It's been easy since we didn't have any classes together. But one day, I was in the same class as him, for a Saturday school (I was there for extra credit) and he mimicked me. The entire four hours I was in a classroom with him, my heart was racing, my body was trembling and I lost all my confidence I usually have. My anxiety was so bad I could hardly talk. Now i'm worried for the new school year because I cannot afford to be in a class with him. If I talk with the principal, do you think she can write a note for my counselor to not give me a class with him ten days before school starts. p.s I've had a class schedule made for me in about 20 min before on the spot at my old school so I don't think it will be a problem for them.

Why are you letting this person live in your figurative attic? While some will tell you to arrange to not have classes with this individual it's my opinion that this would be the wrong thing to do. By using avoidance you are setting the pattern for the rest of your life. Each and everyone one of us has had to deal with situations and people who tend to make us feel uncomfortable or anxious. Running away, which is what you want to do is not the solution. Running away only makes things worse.
For reasons known only to yourself you are letting this individual control your life. Let him mimic you. If you don't take the bait the behaviour will stop.
I have been in situations where I have had to be in the company of people I'd prefer not to be but what I do is take a deep breath and tell myself, "Okay, let's get this over with". and I put on a brave face and enter the room because I know that when I leave it's back to business as usual in my life. .
You have a choice to make. You can let fear rule you or you can rule fear. Face your fear.
Make an appt to see the principal. Take your well written question with you.
Don't wait until Sept. to do this.
