Can hot sauce and spicy food hurt your taste buds?

I heard it was a myth but I have been eating hot sauce on everything for many years. I even puy hot sauce on Pizza with jalapenos. And the last year ive noticed I can't taste things like I used to. I was drinking Seltzer water the other day without knowing it and thought I was drinking soda. Sometimes I just lose my appetite because I just can't taste it. I heard this was a myth but from what I am seeing it is not a myth

Spicy foods can irritate the lining of your mouth, and probably your tongue if you eat it constantly, or eat extra hot foods.

Nope. I have been eating foods with hot peppers and hot sauce since I was little. It's actually a myth. Try to decrease eating spicy foods. See if that helps.
