Bread goes stale faster in the refrigerator than it does at room temperature

The refrigerator will dry it out a bit.
The pantry the bread may get mold or stale if it is not consumed quickly.
Depending on the humidity where you live will determine how long it will take..
Freezing a few slices wrapped in plastic wrap may keep it the longest.
If you usually have 2 slices wrap 2 slices, when you want bread take out a pack and leave it to thaw for a few minutes then make your toast or sandwich.
The freezer may dry it out a bit as well but not it will not be as noticeable if you are toasting it.
In any case air tight is the best way to store bread.

Bread should be stored in a cool, dry place. I say pantry.

When the kids were all here, a loaf of bread had less than a days lifespan. We freeze all our bread, getting out what is needed at the time. It thaws while laid out on the counter while prepping a sandwich, and tastes/feels as fresh as the day we brought it home. We have kept some 2-3 months long, and never had any mold, dryness or anything else bad happen.

We freeze in the original bag, get out what we need, and reseal bag with the same twist tie, or clip it came with. We hit the bread store every two weeks or longer. We live in the country, so shopping is planned, and running out of bread isn't an option!

I use an airtight tin, as it`s proven the best to keep bread and biscuits and crackers fresh.

Bread goes stale more quickly in the fridge. It's better to keep in the pantry. However if you're slow at eating it like I am, it's ok to freeze it and it will last for ages.

Recent made up my mind about this same question........when kept in the refrig........it seems to dry out easier because it isn't used up quick enough.
So have kept it out closed up of course on the counter and no problems with drying up or mold........good luck

In air tight bag in the pantry or on the counter.
A fridge removes moisture and can stale a bread faster.

It depends entirely on how Hot your pantry is. My house is hot as hell so I keep bread in the fridge.

Refrigerator or freezer in airtight container. In my neck of the woods it molds if left at room temperature - unless it's crappy bread chock full of preservatives.
