A physical property is the property that does not involve the formation of new substance(s).
A chemical property is the property that involves the formation of new substance(s)/
"Physical properties include properties like mass, color, and flammability."
The statement is false.
Flammability means the combustion reaction which involve the formation of products in combustion.
"Physical properties cannot be observed without changing the identity of the material."
The statement is false.
Some physical properties can be observed. For example, melting is an observable physical property of ice.
"Physical properties include properties like density, melting point, and ductility."
The statement is true.
Density, melting point and ductility describe the properties which do not involve the formation of new substance(s).
"Physical properties describe the potential for the material to undergo a reaction."
The statement is false.
Reaction is the short form for chemical reaction, and new substance(s) (produce(s)) are formed in reaction.
The answer: Physical properties include properties like density, melting point, and ductility.
Physical properties are anything which can be quantified, that is, expressed by a number.
Physical properties include properties like mass, color, and flammability. -- TRUE
Physical properties cannot be observed without changing the identity of the material. -- FALSE
Physical properties include properties like density, melting point, and ductility. -- TRUE
Physical properties describe the potential for the material to undergo a reaction. -- TRUE
Chemical reactions themselves are chemical changes and the reactions are chemical properties. But the last item says the "potential ... to undergo a reaction." These are things like Gibbs free energy (ΔG). If ΔG is negative, then a spontaneous reaction is possible. ΔG in turn, can be computed from the enthalpy change (ΔH) and the change in entropy (ΔS) at a particular temperature. All of these are physical measurements.
"Physical properties cannot be observed without changing the identity of the material. "
That one is false as you can weigh or balance things without effecting the mass of them.
"Physical properties describe the potential for the material to undergo a reaction.
Well in chemistry that would be correct as the mass of an element does effect reaction rates if nothing else. Ductility, I don't about that one. It has little to do with chemical reactions unless you are dealing with how difficult it is to modify the shape of a surface. I suppose that would count.
