Books sold in church?

My pastor is a noted author. The last 10 weeks have been preached with his new book as the title of the sermon series. Sure enough I looked and the sermon title is a book being released Oct 2017 and is currently presold on Amazon. Last week w had a guest pastor. His first
two minutes were discussing a book he wrote. He then stated that the book was available in the lobby for $30 after the sermon. I checked and the book was on Amazon for $20 which he had to have known. This feels dirty to me. What is your opinion as a Christian?

It's business that's what . Amazon buy in bulk and reduce the price.
I can't see your problem.

I would be more concerned with his advertising his book from the pulpit. That should have been an "Oh, but the way..." at the end of services. Unfortunately it MAY be an indication of where his heart is really set.

Well, the $10 difference isn't uncommon. When you sell online you don't have have handle the books, and the buyer pays for shipping and handling fees. When you sell a book in person you have to add these fees on, pushing the cost of the books up.
Some promoting and preaching from his own books is fine sometimes, but if he is taking advantage of the church to just sell and promote his own books, yes, that is a little sketchy, and it sounds like that is what's happening. He should be preaching from the Bible the majority of the time.

Seems as if you just learned that they are more interested in money than preaching the Good News of the Kingdom.
