Her parents always regarded her as the smartest of their children.

As regards the car, I didn't forget to put an advertisement in the paper. He is regarded as the best doctor in town.

Her parents always regarded her --- 不是完整意思表達?
the smartest of their children.
The other members of the team regarded(認為) John as(是) a key defensive player.
John was regarded by other team members(被其他隊員認為) as(是) a key defensive player.
John was regarded(被認為) as(是) a key defensive player.

As(連接詞/至於) regards(有關) the car, I didn't forget to put an advertisement in the paper.
He is regarded(被認為) as(介系詞) the best doctor in town.
“As regards” 並不是很好的用法,簡潔一點,可用 ”Regarding” or “with regard to”
Q. Question about grammar ("as regards to")?
is "as regards to"/"as regard to" or "with regards to"/"with
regard to" correct?
I think the correct way is to just say "regarding"
Can someone please shed some light on this? thanks so much!
A1. Best Answer: Regarding is best - always use the least
amount of words. The plural versions seem clumsy(拙劣)
A2. "With regard to" would be correct, as would "regarding."
"Regarding" is simpler, so go with it.
I'm a former English teacher who's still a fan of good
grammar.
A3. Depends on the context, but generally, it's cleanest to simply
say "regarding..."
One might also say "with regards to..." but again, much
simpler and cleaner to simply say "regarding."

(A) regarded as : (被)視為/看作
. . . =========
--- to look upon someone(something) as someone(something)

eg 1. Her parents . . . . "regarded her as" the smartest of their children.

eg 2. He "is regarded as" the best doctor in town.

. . . . . . ^^^^^^ . . . . . . ^^^^^^ . . . . . . ^^^^^^ . . . . . . ^^^^^^ . . . . . .

Remarks :-
=======
eg 1 : X "regarded as" Y 是作「主動」用 ; 即 X 視 Y 為 ....
eg 2 : X " is regarded as" 是作「被動」用 ; 即 X "被視為" ....
. .或, "X is regarded by Y as" ; 即 "X 被 Y 視為" ....

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(B) as regards : 至於 / 關於
. . . ========
--- as regards ≡ in regard to ≡ with regard to ≡ regarding (但不是 "regarding to") -->請閱「參考資料」
--- 用法 : 只需要 主語(subject) 沒有 賓語(object)
eg 3 : "As regards" the car, I didn't forget to put an advertisement in the paper.
. . . . .[ "至於" 汽車, 我沒有忘記在報章上登一則廣告 。] ---> subject : the car, NO object !
. . . . ≡ "With regard to" the car, I ....
. . . . ≡ "Regarding" the car, I ....
. . . . . . ^^^^^^ . . . . . . ^^^^^^ . . . . . . ^^^^^^ . . . . . . ^^^^^^ . . . . . .
Remarks :-
=======
從以上例子, 可見 eg 3 的 "as regards" 跟 egs 1, 2 的 "regarded as" :
-- 意思「完全不同」,用法也不一樣 !
~~~~~ ~~~~~~ ~~~~~~ ~~~~~~ ~~~~~ ~~~~~~ ~~~~~~ ~~~~~~ ~~~~~ ~~~~~~ ~~~~~~
