Is it okay to major in Creative Writing but still aim to get a job as a fashion magazine editor/writer? Is that even possible?

I'm not in college yet, nor am I even close in the slightest. I know it'll be hard to get a job as that, I've seen and heard. But is it possible? I don't want to major in journalism but instead creative writing because of my dreams to be an author on the side of a fashion magazine writer job. But us it possible?

There are very few universities that offer a BA in Creative Writing. If you attend one and graduate, you are welcome to apply for an editing job. The smart thing for you to do is to look at editor-titled jobs on a job posting website to see what the requirements are. Creative Writing is a specialty within English. If the job requirement states "a BA in English, Journalism or similar major," your degree would meet that criteria. Whether or not you could ever get a job is a different question.

Most writers don't major in creative writing. They just write. A Creative Writing degree is worthless.

A degree in creative writing is not going to get you a job in magazines, or the fashion industry, including women's/fashion magazines.
